Why Smart Legal Pro: what it does differently in daily practice
Not a feature list but eight everyday law-firm situations: how does the workflow run in a general AI chat, in classic practice or contract software, and in Smart Legal Pro?
How we compare
We name no providers; we describe categories and the typical workflow. Features and prices of individual products differ and change, so check each row against the product of your choice. For Smart Legal Pro we only describe workflows that exist in the product, and we state what a function does not do.
| Everyday situation | General AI chat | Classic practice/contract software | Smart Legal Pro |
|---|---|---|---|
| New matter: from documents to a checked starting position | You paste documents into each conversation and consolidate the results yourself; you record parties and deadlines elsewhere. | You create the matter, parties and deadlines by hand; the content of the documents is usually not analyzed for this. | Upload documents, get facts with source references, relationships between parties for you to confirm, deadlines only with evidence in the text, and a free conflict check against your other matters when you create the file. It does not replace your own conflict check. |
| Pleading with exhibits | The draft is written in the conversation; you assign exhibit labels and compile the index by hand afterwards. | The documents sit in the file; numbering exhibits and compiling the index is usually manual or template-based. | Documents from the file are assigned to each pleading as exhibits K1, K2 … and can be reordered; missing exhibits are flagged, and a saved state can be downloaded as a ZIP package. No transmission via beA. |
| The other side replies | You paste in the opposing pleading and compare it with the state of your file yourself. | The pleading is filed and read by you; comparing it with facts and evidence is manual work. | The opposing pleading yields a draft with classification, points of attack, a reply outline and burden-of-proof risks, based on the file's relationship graph. Missing facts appear as placeholders, never invented; the draft waits for your review. |
| Preparing for a hearing | You rehearse arguments in conversation; you supply the file status and procedural stage each time. | Preparation happens outside the software; simulating the hearing is not usually part of the scope. | Moot court: play through a whole proceeding phase by phase against an AI judge and an AI opponent, with a success forecast and what-if scenarios. An assessment, not a promise. |
| Involving clients | No access for clients; exchange runs via email or messenger. | Varies; a client portal is present or absent depending on the product. | Clients submit documents, answer follow-up questions and see what you release. Access is logged per document. |
| Client data and data protection | Your text goes out as you paste it; you remove names by hand beforehand. | Documents stay in the software; where built-in AI features send texts has to be clarified per product. | Names and identifiers are masked before text is sent to the model; the parties in a matter are looked up from the facts rather than guessed. Detection is measured and exceptions are named; completeness is not promised. |
| Several legal systems, seven languages | It usually answers in the language of your question; you specify the legal system of the matter each time. | Varies; depending on the product, legal system and language are a system setting or fixed. | Each matter carries its own country and language; defaults follow the matter, your personal override and the firm default. The interface is available in seven languages. |
| Costs in daily work | A flat subscription or usage billing per user, with no link to a matter or the firm. | Often a license per seat, frequently with an annual term and minimum quantities. | A monthly quota that all AI functions draw from. Before larger analyses, a cost line shows the usage, not a euro amount per click. |
