In one sentence
An e-invoice is a file full of rules; our check evaluates the published rule sets directly and shows every violation with rule number, location and a plain-language explanation, entirely without AI.
Why this matters now
In Germany, businesses have been required to be able to receive e-invoices since January 1, 2025; the obligation to issue them follows in stages. Clients therefore ask whether an invoice they received is in order, and a law firm's own incoming invoices are part of this as well.
How it works
In the lawyer portal, you choose “Check e-invoice” on a PDF or XML file in the DMS. XRechnung 3 (CII and UBL), ZUGFeRD/Factur-X and Peppol BIS 3 are recognized. For each finding, the result names the rule, the location in the file and an understandable explanation. An example: if the Leitweg-ID is missing in an XRechnung addressed to a public authority, the error appears with its rule number. With “Create letter to the invoice issuer” this becomes a draft in the editor that you review and adapt. In the “E-invoices” overview you keep track of all checks, with CSV export, and you adopt invoice data into the case file facts with one click.
Costs
In the lawyer portal, the check is included in the subscription and uses no quota. Only when you then use AI functions does that count as usual. For everyone else there is the public page Check an e-invoice: free of charge and without an account, with a traffic light, key figures and the first three rule violations. You see the full report after a free registration. The public check does not store your file.
What it does not do
- Our check is not the official validator. It evaluates the published rule sets itself and has been tested against reference validators; the result is not an official confirmation.
- A PDF is never reported as “in order” just because it looks like an invoice.
- Invoices in Italian or Polish formats are not yet supported.
- The check is not tax advice.
