Lex & Lexi: two AI jurists that argue your case

A single language model agrees with you too readily. Lex & Lexi don’t: two AI personas take your case apart — one argues for it, the other against. Six tools, from the pro-and-contra debate and the brief stress-test to the hearing coach. You direct; the result lands in the file.

In one sentence

An AI that agrees with you is comfortable — but dangerous. Lex & Lexi are two: Lex argues for your thesis, Lexi against it. In their debate you see the weak spots of your case before the other side or the court does.

Why two instead of one?

Large language models have a weakness that gets expensive in law: they’re polite. Ask a model whether your position holds and you usually get an agreeable, plausible-sounding answer — even when the other side has an open goal.

Lex & Lexi solve this through dialectic. Two personas with different briefs discuss your case back and forth:

  • Lex — builds the position, looks for the load-bearing arguments.
  • Lexi — pushes back, attacks, exposes gaps and risks.

What survives has already weathered a round of headwind. That’s not a gimmick — it’s diligence in practice.

Six tools, one principle

Lex & Lexi aren’t a single button but six specialised tools:

1. Pro & contra

Lex for, Lexi against — round by round until the arguments are exhausted, with a clear closing assessment. For the disputed legal question where you really want to see both sides.

2. Argument finder

Here both pull in the same direction: Lex and Lexi jointly assemble the strongest arguments for your position. For when the direction is set and you need substance.

3. Norm chains

Lex identifies the bases of claim, Lexi adds the procedural angle and burden of proof — step by step to a clean examination of the claim.

4. Brief check

Upload your draft: Lex checks structure and gaps, Lexi attacks from the other side’s perspective and marks where it could hurt. The stress test before you file.

5. Client memo

Lex gathers the law and the chances, Lexi the risks, costs and open questions — out comes a balanced advisory memo you can hand to the client.

6. Hearing coach

Live support in the hearing: you ask a question, Lexi answers immediately — with evidence from your documents, not from the gut. Source obligation included.

You direct

Lex & Lexi don’t just run on. The debate is a hybrid of automation and control: the two stream alternately in real time — you see every thought form — and you can step in at any point:

  • pause and read at leisure,
  • steer a round (“go into the limitation period”, “check § 280 BGB”),
  • stop when it’s enough,
  • or extend beyond the natural end if you want another round.

You’re not a spectator, you’re the one running the hearing.

Prepare first, then debate

Real documents are rarely clean. A statement of claim arrives with a letterhead, a file number, a sign-off. So that Lex & Lexi argue about the matter and not the letterhead, there’s a preceding step: the AI prepares the raw text, strips ballast such as letterheads and boilerplate and keeps the facts — dates, amounts, claims. Only this distilled set of facts goes into the debate.

From the file, into the file

As everywhere in the lawyer portal: documents come from the DMS or the file — or fresh from your disk — and the finished result goes back into the file or as DOCX and PDF for download. No copy-paste detour, no lost intermediate states: the analysis is attached to exactly the matter it belongs to.

Seamlessly onward

A Lex & Lexi result is a beginning, not an end. With one click you carry the entire discussion plus its summary into the AI assistant: “Draft a court-ready document from these pro arguments” — and the chat continues with the full context. Or you hand the result to the Agents, e.g. to have a brief draft built straight away. The three pillars — AI assistant, Agents, Lex & Lexi — interlock.

Multilingual, for any jurisdiction

Lex & Lexi aren’t wired to German law. Language and jurisdiction follow your profile: a firm in France debates French law in French, one in Austria Austrian law. The personas reason in a structured way internally and answer in your language.

Built to be safe

  • EU AI over European model routes.
  • PII masking: real names, addresses and file numbers are masked toward the model and only reinserted for you.
  • No invented citations: the personas are instructed never to invent file numbers or references; the hearing coach requires sources from your own documents. Checking stays your job — inventing is forbidden.

Staying honest

Lex & Lexi are an analysis tool, not a tribunal and no substitute for your judgement. They sharpen your view, supply arguments and counter-arguments, expose risks — the assessment, the strategy and the brief remain the lawyer’s. That’s exactly why you see every step of the debate and keep control. More on this: AI transparency.

By the way: you may already know the talking siblings of Lex & Lexi from the live voice conversation for clients. In the lawyer portal, the two are now your legal sparring partners.

Now in the lawyer portal

You’ll find Lex & Lexi in the lawyer-portal sidebar — next to the AI assistant and Agents. Not on board yet? For lawyers shows the way in.
