How do I hand over my case to a law firm?
From the analysis to the first response from the law firm – the complete process in just a few steps.
> Status: Mediation to law firms via Smart Legal Pro is currently being planned and is not available at this time. This article describes the planned process. Information on how you can currently find a lawyer yourself and share your documents can be found in Finding a lawyer.
When things get serious, you can hand over your matter to a real law firm – well-prepared and without any file chaos.
How to proceed
- Find a law firm. Open Lawyers and filter by Country, Area of law, and Language. From within a case file, the app often already suggests suitable specialist areas.
- View profile. Open the profile and check the areas of expertise, languages, and region (Find a lawyer).
- Discuss the matter. Start a preparatory exchange via the profile and briefly describe what it is about.
- Send request. Enter the Subject and a Summary and decide which documents the law firm is allowed to see (Request to lawyer).
- Wait for a response. You can view the status under My Requests; once the law firm responds, you can exchange messages directly there.
When this step is worthwhile
In the case of high amounts, short deadlines, far-reaching signatures, or if the AI explicitly recommends it – the rules of thumb can be found in When to consult a lawyer.
Your advantage
Your facts of the case are already cleanly gathered and your documents are organized. This saves the law firm time – and you money.
You remain in control
You only release what you want to share. How we handle your data is described in Data protection.
