You can have your account and your data deleted – this is part of your rights under the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) (Data Protection & Where Your Data is Stored).

How to proceed

  1. Open the Settings and scroll to the Privacy & Account section.
  2. Select "Request deletion". You can optionally provide a reason (helps us, but is voluntary) and confirm the notice.
  3. The app will display a deletion date. Until then, you can cancel the deletion at any time via "Withdraw deletion" if you change your mind (reversible until the specified date, after which it is final, Art. 17 GDPR).

Active subscriptions: With your deletion request, we will cancel active subscriptions at the end of the paid term; if you withdraw the request, they will continue. If the automatic cancellation via Stripe fails, the app will explicitly notify you — please cancel the subscription yourself or contact Support.

If your account is a lawyer account: We do not automatically close a lawyer account because your case files and their retention must remain protected. A deletion request is therefore not executed, but coordinated with you; you can withdraw it at any time. In the lawyer portal, a checklist under "Settings → Account & Subscription → Close your account" guides you through the steps; it is described in the lawyer portal manual under "Close your account".

If you are a client of a law firm in the portal: Your decision regarding your law firm's "Notice on AI support" (agree, decline, revoke) is saved as proof, just like your other consents in the portal. After deletion, this proof is retained without your name and your identifier (see "What remains after deletion").

What you should do beforehand

After the period expires, your personal data will be deleted. If you have any questions, Support (Creating a support ticket) is here to help.

What remains after deletion

  • Booking records (invoices, credit notes, payments) are retained because of statutory retention obligations – without any link to your account.
  • Records that someone else needs – such as your consents or the log of when you opened a document in a law firm's client portal – are kept, but without your name and identifier: instead of you, they only show a pseudonym that cannot be traced back.
  • Paused deletion: If a document in your account is subject to a legal retention lock (legal hold, e.g. because of ongoing proceedings), the deletion is paused rather than canceled. You can see this in the settings and can still withdraw your request. As soon as the lock is lifted, the deletion is carried out automatically.
  • The AI's tool log contains only metadata and is deleted after 90 days in any case.
