How the AI works (and what it is not)

The basic principle: Initial assessment instead of legal advice, with a comprehensible derivation.

Smart Legal Pro uses modern language AI to process legal facts of the case in an understandable way. The goal is always the same: you should understand what is at stake, which deadlines are looming, and what options you have.

What the AI does

Reads documents (decisions, contracts, letters) and identifies the type, country, deadlines, and risk points.
Asks questions when something is unclear – instead of guessing (see Gathering the facts of the case & follow-up questions).
Explains in everyday language and highlights the relevant points.
Prepares: a letter, a contract, or the lawyer handover to a law firm.

What the AI does not do

It is not legal advice and is not a substitute for a lawyer.
It does not make binding decisions for you.
In cases of high risk, it explicitly recommends a handover – see Finding a lawyer.

Why this clear distinction?

An AI often sounds very convincing, even when it is mistaken. To ensure that you rely on the tool correctly, we make it transparent where its strengths lie (quick understanding, preparation) and where they do not (binding advice, representation). Example

You upload a Bußgeldbescheid (penalty notice). The AI identifies the document type, extracts the objection deadline, explains your options in simple terms, and points out if a lawyer's review would be useful. You then decide whether to draft a letter or involve a law firm.

Multilingual & country-dependent

The AI adapts to the country and language of your case (see Languages & Countries (Jurisdictions)). German and English are the most advanced; other languages also work.
