What PII masking does
Before anything is sent to the AI models, Smart Legal Pro detects patterns of personal data and replaces them with internal placeholders (e.g. __PII_PERSON_1__, __PII_IBAN_1__, __PII_AKTENZ_1__). In most workflows the AI only sees the masked version — the documented exceptions are set out in our Privacy Policy, section 4c.
What this means in practice
- You can upload real payment reminders, penalty notices or contracts — without redacting them by hand beforehand.
- The analysis stays accurate, because structure, amounts, deadlines and legal terms are preserved.
- In the final document, the original data is reinserted — locally in your browser or in our EU database, never at the AI provider.
Limits
Please do not upload especially sensitive confidential information belonging to third parties while we are still in the test phase. Details in our legal notice and on the test-phase page.
