The problem
Anyone using Smart Legal Pro often wears several hats: a private individual for the rental deposit, a freelancer for the NDA, a managing director for the company's terms and conditions. Until now, in many tools this meant three accounts, three subscriptions and maintaining your data three times over.
What we built
We have decoupled the person from the outward identity. One login (you), as many account identities as you like: private individual, sole trader, freelancer, partnership, limited company or corporation.
Each identity carries its own:
- Billing name and address — passed straight through to Stripe as
customer_details, VAT-deductible, with VAT number. - Letterhead — appears on every AI-generated legal letter and contract draft.
- Handover to a lawyer — when you refer the matter to a specialist lawyer, they can see at once that the instruction comes from the company and not from you as a private individual.
How to switch
- In the account menu, open Identities and create, for example, "Müller Consulting Ltd".
- Choose the active identity in the top right — just like switching profiles.
- From that switch onwards, invoices, letterheads and handovers all run under the company.
Your profile data (name, address) is technically retained, but for invoices and letters it is deprecated: we read only the active identity. That makes it impossible for a private letterhead to accidentally end up beneath a company letter.
Why it matters
- Input VAT. An invoice made out to "Max Müller" is worthless for the company's tax purposes. An invoice to "Müller Consulting Ltd, VAT no. IE…" is cleanly deductible.
- Liability. An NDA with "Max Müller" as the party bound to confidentiality is quite different from an NDA with the company. With identities, it stays clear which hat you are wearing.
- Authority to act. When handing a matter over to a specialist lawyer, it is immediately visible whether the instruction is given privately or on behalf of a business.

Roadmap
