Deadline at a glance

3 months to the end of a month

§ 573c Abs. 1 BGB

Tenants can terminate a residential tenancy with 3 months' notice. The notice must be received no later than the 3rd working day of a month for that month to count.

It is an AI, not a person: nobody looks at your individual case, and we do not know who signs up or for what reason. That is why we give pointers, but no legal advice on the individual case. Guidelines and playbooks in the platform are only guardrails: the AI relies on the available sources and your information. AI can make mistakes — check important results, and if in doubt, ask a lawyer.

What you can do here in 5 minutes

A tenant can give notice without stating reasons, but the notice period, written form and recipient address must be correct. We calculate your notice period and prepare a letter that you review before sending.

You enter the start of the tenancy, the termination date and the landlord's address – our AI tools check the notice period under § 573c BGB and deliver the finished PDF with date and request for confirmation.

What the AI checks — and what only a lawyer can decide

An AI is only as good as the question. We show openly where your answer is reliable and where you should speak with a lawyer.

In disputes about cosmetic repairs (Schönheitsreparaturen), return of the deposit or if the landlord terminates for personal use (Eigenbedarf), you should involve a tenancy law lawyer.
