The "Source verified" label
How the portal automatically checks whether a cited source actually supports a statement.
In addition to the optional source search, the portal automatically verifies every source it cites for a statement itself – and displays the result as a small label directly next to the source.
What is checked
For every cited source (e.g., for legal questions), the portal checks:
- Is the target page accessible?
- Does the claimed citation or case reference appear verbatim on this page? This is also checked for PDF documents (such as judgments in PDF format); only scanned PDFs without a text layer or very extensive PDFs cannot be checked automatically and remain "Source unconfirmed".
The two labels
- "Source verified" (green): The citation was found verbatim on the target page – the evidence is sound.
- "Source unconfirmed" (yellow): A citation was claimed but could not be confirmed on the page. This does not necessarily mean it is incorrect – only that it could not (yet) be confirmed automatically. Please check this point yourself before use.
Hover your mouse cursor over the label to see the verified excerpt from the target page.
Where you see the label
For legal questions with source citations and for the optional add sources feature. The standard chat without live web search does not cite external sources and therefore does not carry a label – see How reliable is the AI? for the general handling of AI statements.
Limitations
The verification confirms the wording, not the substantive accuracy or whether the source is still current. A "Source verified" label does not replace your own legal assessment (Limits of AI & No Legal Advice).
