Is it secure?
The honest answer: What is protected in terms of data privacy – and what you should keep in mind yourself.
A justified question – after all, you are sharing legal, often sensitive documents. Here is the honest answer, without marketing.
What is technically protected
- EU Hosting: Your data and the database are located in the EU. For AI processing, language models are only used under data protection guarantees (including Standard Contractual Clauses and Zero-Retention) – details on the Security Page.
- Encryption: TLS during transmission, AES-256 in storage (database and file storage).
- Access protection per account: Via Row-Level-Security in the database, each person only sees their own data.
- PII Masking: Before most AI calls, personally identifiable information is masked (with documented exceptions). On by default and can be turned off in the settings – see Protecting names and details from the AI.
- No model training with your data: Your texts are only used to answer your request, not for training the models (What is the AI – and what is it not?).
More on this on the public Security Page and in what happens to documents.
What you should keep in mind yourself
- Use a strong, unique password (security).
- Only share what is actually necessary – e.g., specifically individual documents during a law firm inquiry.
- Keep important originals additionally yourself.
Where does the honesty lie?
Smart Legal Pro does not offer true end-to-end encryption at the case file level – the data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Furthermore, we do not promise certifications that we do not have. The current status on the Security Page and in the Privacy Policy is always decisive.
