Quick check: what should you do?

3 short questions — no sign-up required.

Is there a will that disinherits you or passes you over?
Did the deceased make substantial gifts in the last 10 years?
Are the heirs refusing to provide information about the estate?
Did the death occur more than 2 years ago?

Deadline at a glance

3 years

§ 195 BGB (Verjährung Pflichtteil)

The compulsory share claim becomes time-barred 3 years from the end of the year in which you learned of the death and the disinheritance. Secure information and valuation claims early — evidence disappears quickly.

It is an AI, not a person: nobody looks at your individual case, and we do not know who signs up or for what reason. That is why we give pointers, but no legal advice on the individual case. Guidelines and playbooks in the platform are only guardrails: the AI relies on the available sources and your information. AI can make mistakes — check important results, and if in doubt, ask a lawyer.

Typical risks in this scenario

What we pay special attention to

Curated from real cases. The AI review flags exactly these points in your document.

  • The heirs refuse or delay providing information (§ 2314 BGB)

  • Gifts made in the last 10 years are not taken into account (§ 2325 BGB)

  • Estate assets valued too low — use the right to a valuation

  • Limitation: 3 years from the end of the year of knowledge run out faster than expected

What you can do here in 5 minutes

Anyone disinherited as a child, spouse or (where the deceased had no children) parent is entitled to the compulsory share (Pflichtteil): half of the statutory share of the inheritance, in money (§§ 2303 ff. BGB). In addition, there are information claims against the heirs (§ 2314 BGB) and supplementary claims for gifts made in the last 10 years (§ 2325 BGB, sliding-scale reduction model). The claim generally becomes time-barred after 3 years. The period only starts at the end of the year in which the death occurred and you learned — or, without gross negligence, should have learned — of the death and the disinheritance (§§ 195, 199 Abs. 1 BGB). Regardless of this, it becomes time-barred at the latest 30 years after the death (§ 199 Abs. 3a BGB).

Upload the will, certificate of inheritance documents or the letter from the probate court — our AI tools check your entitlement and share, list information and supplementary claims and draft the request for information or demand for payment to the heirs.
