Uploading & Analyzing Documents
Upload a contract, notice, or letter and receive a structured initial assessment.
Upload a document (PDF, photo, or file), and the AI will generate a structured initial assessment including risks, deadlines, and recommendations.
How to Proceed
- Open My documents or start a matter under case files.
- Upload the document (How do I upload a document?). Photos (e.g., photographed letters) also work; multiple pages will be merged. With Take photo you photograph several pages one after another (“Take another page”) and upload them at the end as one document.
- Select Analyze. If the country is not clear, you will be briefly asked to select it; the AI will clarify any open points with a short preliminary inquiry if necessary.
- Read the report and decide on the next steps.
Standard or Deeper Review
Where a choice is available, you can choose between a Standard and a deeper (Premium) analysis. The price is displayed next to each option – you decide how thorough it should be.
What You Receive
- A summary in clear language, including an assessment (score) and recommendations.
- Detected deadlines – these will also be added to the deadline overview. A date is only shown if it is documented in the document or can be calculated; otherwise you see a note prompting you to add it (Keeping track of deadlines).
- For contracts, identified red flags – you can then carry them over specifically into a contract revision (How do I adapt and revise a contract?).
- For contracts, additionally a clause list with risk level (Critical, High, Medium, Low) and explanation in plain language, notes on missing clauses, and negotiation tips. How to read and use the result: Reviewing a contract: How to read the results.
- Suggestions for potential next steps (e.g., drafting a letter or involving a lawyer).
Good Preparation Pays Off
- Upload the complete document (all pages, legible).
- For photos: well-lit, straight, not cropped.
- Learn more in Uploading documents correctly.
Uploading Several Files at Once
If you upload several files at the same time, the app first saves all of them and then asks once whether they should be analyzed – with the price per document and the total. With “Save only” nothing is charged; you can analyze each document individually later. Documents in a “Do not evaluate automatically” folder are never analyzed automatically. The list below the upload shows for each file whether it has been saved, analyzed or is still waiting for your decision (e.g. country or analysis level).
If you chose “Always analyze automatically from now on” in the price dialog, a notice appears in your documents – you can switch this off at any time with “Ask before each analysis again”.
Analyzing Multiple Documents Together
You can add further documents to a document and have them analyzed as a bundle – new files or documents already in your storage (search, no re-upload). The AI keeps track of the source of each statement and recognizes relationships between the documents – ideal when multiple letters belong together (Organizing matters). In the result, “What was read?” shows which documents were taken into account fully, only partly or not at all; you can open them there with one click in the preview.
Viewing the Original
You can read the uploaded document directly in the app – with zoom, page navigation, and highlights, without downloading it. How the viewer works is shown in Viewing documents (viewer).
Re-analyzing / Setting a Focus
If something has changed or if you want to shed more light on a specific aspect, you can restart an analysis and specify a focus (details: Re-analyze with focus). This also utilizes AI and costs credits; the price is shown in advance.
Extracting Key Data
From the analysis, you can transfer the most important facts (persons, dates, amounts, deadlines) in a structured format into your case file – see Detected facts (persons, dates, amounts, deadlines).
Costs
Before each analysis, you will see a cost notice. Nothing will be debited without your confirmation. You can always see the exact value on the respective cost notice and under credits (Where do I see what something costs before I start?). If an analysis fails technically, the credits are automatically refunded (Refunds & Reimbursements).
If Something Does Not Work
- "Country unknown": select the country in the dialog – the analysis will then continue.
- Weak/thin result: provide more context or choose the deeper option (More Context, Better Answer).
- Analysis is hanging: wait a moment; the status will change from analyzing to ready as soon as the result is available.
Unclear points will be clarified by the AI via inquiry – see Gathering the facts of the case & follow-up questions. You can ask questions directly about the document in the Chatting with a document. A concrete roadmap is provided by the action plan (Action-Brief); individual statements can be verified via Adding sources (primary source search).
