How the AI writes with you (AI preferences)
Customize the tone of voice, form of address, response language, signature, instructions to the AI, and the number of its follow-up questions.
You can influence how the AI communicates with you and drafts letters for you. You can find these settings in the settings under the AI preferences section.
What you can configure
- Tone of voice: objective, friendly, or neutral – influences the style of the responses.
- Form of address (Sie/Du): how the AI addresses you in texts and letters.
- Response language: the language in which the AI responds, regardless of the interface language (changing language and country).
- Risk tolerance: whether assessments should be rather cautious or rather offensive.
- Signature: a signature block that can be placed under generated letters.
- Instructions to the AI: a free-text field for things that the AI should always take into account for you.
How to proceed
- Open the settings.
- Adjust the desired fields in the AI preferences section.
- Save – the next AI action will take your settings into account.
AI follow-up questions
Directly below the AI preferences in the settings, you will find the card "AI follow-up questions". There you decide how many follow-up questions the AI may ask you on its own initiative:
- Default (each feature as before): you choose nothing – every feature keeps its previous behavior.
- Off – no unprompted questions: the AI no longer asks on its own initiative and states its assumptions instead.
- Brief – up to 3 questions
- Thorough – up to 8 questions
- Maximum – up to 20 questions
The number is an upper limit – individual features may stay below it.
Where the setting applies:
- Clarification before a document analysis (analyzing a document): with "Off", the clarification dialog is no longer offered automatically; with "Brief", there is one paid round instead of up to three. The maximum number of paid rounds is never increased.
- Clarification of a legal question (asking a legal question): up to 3, 6 or 10 questions (Brief, Thorough, Maximum).
- Guided mode for legal questions: up to 3, 8 or 20 questions; without a setting, it remains 12 as before.
- Dialogue-based revision of contracts and letters (adapting a contract): fewer questions with "Brief" and "Thorough"; "Maximum" corresponds to the previous maximum.
- Writing assistant (writing assistant): up to 1, 2 or 6 answer rounds (Brief or Off, Thorough, Maximum); without a setting, up to 9 as before. After that, you continue with "Create anyway".
- Revising a contract or letter from your documents (adapting a contract): with "Off", the quick description is preselected instead of the guided AI consultation – you can switch at any time.
Even with "Off", the AI asks questions when you explicitly start a clarification yourself – for example the clarification dialog for a legal question, the guided mode or the dialogue-based revision. It then asks up to 3 questions.
Never affected are mandatory details such as the applicable law (country) and the mandatory quick-check questions of the contract and letter wizards – these are always asked. How follow-up questions work in general is explained in gathering the facts.
Length of your letters
In the settings, the card “Length of your letters” lets you choose how detailed new letters are by default: Short, Standard or Detailed – or No preference (Standard). The setting only preselects the length: when you create a letter from the template catalog or a reply letter, your length is preselected and marked “from your profile” – you can still choose freely for each letter. The price does not depend on the length.
Lex or Lexi?
You can also choose which help persona accompanies you in the settings. What the two of them do is explained in help and support.
Good to know
These preferences improve form and tone – they do not change the limitations of the AI. An initial assessment remains an initial assessment.
Every paid clarification round before a document analysis actually shows you questions. If a round is requested beyond the round limit, that request is answered free of charge.
