In one sentence
When your firm invites you, you receive free access where your case files, shared documents and deadlines all sit in one place — including an AI assistant at the firm's expense, hosted in the EU.
From the invitation email to your file in two minutes
It all starts with an email from your firm. Click the link, register or sign in briefly — the invitation is tied to your email address — accept the invitation, and you're done. A dedicated area then appears in your account bearing your firm's name: your case files, the documents shared for them, and the deadlines your firm shares with you. No second password, no extra software, no hunting through old email attachments.
You see what your firm deliberately shares
Not every document in your file will necessarily appear in the portal. That is not a fault — it is the heart of the concept: your lawyer is bound by confidentiality and works with drafts, internal notes and third-party documents that are not, or not yet, intended to be passed on. That is why the portal is empty by default, and every document and every deadline is released individually. What you see is a deliberate decision by your firm — not a technical coincidence.
The AI assistant explains your file — without using your own credits
Within the firm area, an AI assistant answers questions about your shared documents in plain language: what a court submission means, what a deadline refers to, how to make sense of a procedural step. Your firm provides the allowance for this — your own credits remain untouched, and by design there are no purchase prompts in client mode. One thing to remember: the answers are guidance to help you get your bearings, not legal advice. What to do in your case is decided by your lawyer.
Submit documents instead of getting chase-up calls
If your firm is still missing something — a contract, an official notice, photos — you upload the documents straight into the file. The firm reviews every upload before accepting it; nothing lands in the file unchecked. You see outstanding items as tasks, and the portal sends friendly, automatic reminders when something is pending. That saves both sides the back-and-forth phone calls.
Several firms, one account — and clear data boundaries
If you are looked after by several firms, for instance privately and for business, a single account is enough: a switcher moves you between the firm areas. The areas are strictly separated — no firm sees another, and your personal case files and documents outside the firm area stay private. The entire platform is hosted in the EU. Three questions, briefly answered
- Does this cost me anything? No. Your firm provides the portal and the AI allowance. You need neither a subscription nor your own credits.
- What does the firm see? The shared firm area: the released content, the documents you have uploaded there, and the status of outstanding items. It does not see your personal SmartLegalPro area.
- How secure is this? The invitation is tied to your email address, every release happens individually, and without an active connection to the firm nothing is visible. Hosting is in the EU.
